Doorway of Deliverance

In moments of crisis, it is desperation that often draws us to make decisions that either help or hurt us. For many, these decisions are made in haste or emotion, while others have no choice but to choose a way out.

At this moment in time, with our offices at ReachAcross, we find ourselves in a period of transition. Due to the extenuating circumstances of COVID-19, we recently had many of our volunteers experience hardship or new opportunities in which they made a choice to move on. However, we decided to trust the Lord to provide a way forward, and He has once again graciously provided.

It reminds me of the moment in time when the nation of Egypt essentially held hostage the people of Israel, as slaves in bondage, with seemingly no way out. When Moses, who was known as the man of God, began to challenge Pharaoh, he knew he could not do it alone.

As Scripture shows,

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

- Exodus 14:13-14 (NIV)

The people of Israel seemed to be stuck between the Egyptians chasing them, and the Red Sea in front of them, but amazingly, Moses advice to them was neither “fight nor flight”, as we are often assured are the only two options.

It was to be still.

For every time when it seems impossible to move forwards or go back, it is best to simply be still.
