Life on Hold

Do you ever feel like the world around you is rushing by, but things in your life feel like they are on pause?

I recall a conversation I had with our Associate Pastor of my home church late last year, and while we were talking, he mentioned that he felt he was in “sort of a holding pattern”; which stuck with me as I thought about everything that had happened since the start of the pandemic. It is interesting looking back, as so many people no doubt have had hopes and dreams for the New Year, suddenly disappearing.

Despite such intangibles, we know that not everything is meant to last.

As Scripture reminds us,

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

- Psalm 27:13-14

Often, when I remind myself of such truths, it is easy to think about the challenges of life and be overwhelmed, once again, by the aspirations and desires we once had, that have just as quickly faded away.

Yet in such moments, we can be reminded that our confidence comes from Someone greater.
