As most of us have probably come to understand, life doesn’t always go according to plan. When the unexpected happens, however, how do we react? Do we sigh and carry on with life, or are we fazed by the uncertainty of it all? What is our response when the inevitable finally occurs?
I remember watching an advertisement on television recently about life insurance, which ultimately ended with a person lugging a closet filled with fragile items down a flight of concrete stairs; punctuated by the catchphrase, “get insured before life happens”.
Though it is quite laughable to think that we put our livelihoods in the hands of corporations, how often do we commit our future into the hands of the living Lord? It may strike us as odd, but I doubt any of us are quite as comfortable knowing that our future may be unknowable.
However, as Scripture tells us,
“Consider the blameless, observe the upright; a future awaits those who seek peace”.
- Psalm 37:37
In other words, our life is only worth living if we seek out the One who holds the future; it is then that true peace is found, and our life is renewed in the hope that the good Lord gives to his followers.
We can live in the power of a renewed life if only we entrust our lives to the Lord alone.
